Overview

Genus was engaged to complete the final connections and interconnections of new HV reticulation at BHP's Yandi operations.

Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia.

At the WAIO Yandi mine, we were engaged to supply High Voltage cable terminators and testing technicians to test and install all equipment related to the site's HV network relocation.

  • 33kV terminations parallel supply
  • Installation of 33kV HV cable
  • Testing & commissioning of HV cables & power line
  • Primary & secondary injection testing of new relay feeder panel
  • Earth testing, step & touch, fall of potential and continuity

Outcome

Our full scope went beyond testing & commissioning - works encompassed project delivery, customer liaison, regulatory consultation & permit management and project completion. The project was finalised with provision of a safety certificate, ready for energisation.
